Janis Abrahms Spring, PhD, ABPP
Dr. Spring is a nationally
acclaimed expert on issues of trust, intimacy and
forgiveness. Her first book After the Affair:
Healing the Pain and Rebuilding Trust When a Partner Has
Been Unfaithful, has sold more than 330,000 copies.
It was a finalist for "Best First Book" and "Best
Relationship Book," Books for a Better Life Award.
Her second book, How Can I Forgive You? The
Courage to Forgive, The Freedom Not To, was a
finalist for "Best Psychology Book," Books for a Better
Life Award. Dr. Spring is a Diplomate in Clinical
Psychology, a recipient of the Connecticut Psychological
Association's Award for Distinguished Contribution to
the practice of Psychology, and has served as a clinical
supervisor in the psychology department at Yale
University. In private practice for 3 decades, Dr.
Spring is known for the richness and originality of her
clinical skills and trains hundreds of therapists each
year. She is a popular media guest on programs
such as NPR and Good Morning America.

| Cultural
Presentation: "O'othham Vehsig," which means
"People's Balance," reviews how the Indigenous
peoples of this country have experienced and have
been affected by colonization, and how we deal with
this decolonization. The presentation will
review historical, cultural, and social changes,
using the People of the Gila River as an example.
Presentation will have a large emphasis on putting
imbalance in it's place in order for us to gain
personal wellness, which we need before we begin to
help our peoples regain their balance. |

Presenter:
Adrian Hendricks is an Akimel O'othham from the
Gila River Indian Community. He lives with his
family in the village of Hashan Kehk (Saguaro
Standing). He holds a BA in History from ASU
and a MA in American Indian Studies from U of A.
He works for the Inter-Tribal Council of AZ and is a
cultural mentor for the Arizona Children's
Association. He is also a tribal consultant
for the Phoenix Botanical Garden and a presenter for
the U of A. |
