The presenter
will focus on the recent trends in adolescent substance

the literature, both for in-treatment and post-discharge
clients will be reviewed. |

Developing an
Ethical Model In Working with Sexual Abuse and Families |
|
Description: |
“Repressed
memories”, leading/suggesting questions, mandated
reporting, confrontation, reunification and a variety of
cultural norms are just a few of the issues facing
clinicians working with victims/survivors of sexual
abuse and their families. This workshop will focus on
using relevant ethics concepts and theories to help us
explore our role in a competent, ethical clinical
practice and the times at which legal and professional
standards may conflict. Come ready to participate in a
challenging and stimulating discussion. NOTE: You can
apply the CEUs for this workshop toward the ethics
requirement for your AzBBHE licensure renewal. |

New Thoughts
for Couples in Therapy |
|
Description: |
This talk
combines cognitive therapy with a system’s emphasis on
self-focus (that is, responsibility for self and one’s
own part in the couple’s conflict). We will discuss four
universally erroneous beliefs that couples come to
therapy with and suggest four “new ideas” the partners
should substitute for the errors. |
